Mood board. Make one for all of your shoots and make them big so everyone can see what the vision is from a distance and quickly get on the same page for the hair, the outfit and makeup. They’re very helpful.

Arrive early and go over the shot list with the team. Make sure you have everything and work quickly. Be decisive in what you approve in order to move onto the next look. Especially when you have 1 model and a lot of makeup changes.

Communicate with the photographer if something isn’t working and quickly decide on what to do about it. Ask the photographer for help, they often have the answer even if you can’t imagine how it can be done. Rely on the talents of the team and appreciate everyone for their contributions. You can’t do it without them.
